October 10th, 6:00pm - 10:00pm

803 S. 4th Street view map

Join Octo Design Group and Skai Blue Media as they team up to collaborate as part of DesignPhiladelphia 2010. On October 10th, the two organizations will host an exhibit highlighting the effects of the BP oil spill. In the weeks prior to the event, Skai Blue Media will host four weekend workshops where, for $1, attendees can create an origami bird or another animal affected by the spill. All proceeds will be donated to animal rescue organizations along the Golf Coast. Each animal will be strung along the wall for the night of the event and a short film showing the devastation the spill has caused will be broadcast across the paper creations. We ask for your support as part of DesignPhiladelphia’s week long arts initiative.

Free and open to the public.

DesignPhiladelphia

June 8, 2010

Design takes time. Time to imagine, time to create, time to experience, time to digest. We can’t slow down time, but we can spread it out. So instead of a week, DesignPhiladelphia 2010 will last a full 11 days, October 7 to 17. This gives you more time to be enlightened and fascinated, thrilled and excited by the breadth and depth of the creative company you keep in the Greater Philadelphia region.

Electronic Ink

June 6, 2010

Electronic Ink partners with DesignPhiladelphia 2010 to create a fresh web presence for our cultural initiative. An international consultancy, Electronic Ink is dedicated to improving the way people interact with technology, environments and one another. In 1990, Harold Hambrose built the company to provide insightful design solutions that solve problems by doing something radical: considering human behaviors first and foremost. It was the practice of user-centered design, before it even had a name. We, at DesignPhiladelphia, share Electronic Ink’s goal. People must be front and center to the questions we ask and the problems we’re solving in order to effect any real change.
