The timeless art of creating handwoven rugs is practiced in many cultures, and while the core technique remains unchanged Claudia Mills Studio has developed a new contemporary weaving style. While rag rugs are usually woven with recycled textiles, we create rugs in a fresh palette of colors and new fabrics while retaining the texture and warmth of traditional rag rugs. Our first priority is to create a well designed piece, a functioning floor covering - a product showcasing both beauty and durability.
Working in a small production setting in West Philadelphia for over two decades, Claudia Mills Studio designs and produces one-of-a-kind handwoven rugs. Claudia offers a line of individual designs and custom created site specific rugs. As a designer, Claudia strikes a balance between color, texture and pattern in each floor covering. Claudia’s rugs can be seen and purchased at her showroom/weaving studio in Chestnut Hill Philadelphia managed by Jennifer Clark.
